on 19 January Metropolitan Nikoloz of Akhalkalaki, Kumurdo and Kari answered journalists questions about Ukraine’s St. orthodox Church’s Autocephaly Recognition ( View the Rill version of the interview), which is represented unchanged by the AORE.
“Only journalists are interested in the issue of Ukrainian autocephaly. No one else is asking this question. The Ukrainian Church itself does not raise this issue; The Church of Constantinople does not raise this issue; The Russian Patriarchate does not raise this issue. Let’s wait! Events will unfold. My position on Ukraine is as follows: The Ukrainian Church, the new, recognized one, has to figure out – Who are they? What do they want? Because there is already a rift between them. I told this last year. I am not even telling a new story. A large part, the largest part had departed and opposed to this newly recognized church. And which autocephaly should we recognize, those who are separated from those or those who remained with them? It is unclear. They have found out first and no one is in a hurry to make these assessments.”
